FAQ

Do I need to know exactly what is wrong before starting therapy?

No. You don’t need a diagnosis or a perfectly organized explanation. We can begin with whatever brings you here.

What happens during the first session?

We will discuss what brings you to therapy, your concerns, and what you hope to achieve. You don’t have to share everything at once.

How do I know if we are a good fit?

Our initial conversation gives us an opportunity to see whether my approach feels right for you.

How often would we meet?

Session frequency depends on your needs, goals, and circumstances. We can adjust it as needed.

How long is a therapy session?

Sessions are 60 minutes—approximately 50 minutes for therapy and 10 minutes for clinical documentation.

What is your fee?
  • My standard fee is $150 for a 60-minute individual psychotherapy session.
  • I offer sliding-scale and reduced-fee options of approximately $120–$130 for selected clients based on individual circumstances.
  • I also offer a three-session package for $400, compared with the regular $450 fee.
Do you offer online or in-person therapy?

I currently offer secure virtual psychotherapy sessions through a secure, encrypted, and PHIPA-compliant platform.

What concerns do you work with?

I work with trauma, PTSD, Major Depressive Disorder (MDD), depression, anxiety, emotional overwhelm, life transitions, self-esteem concerns, and personal growth, among other concerns.

Don’t see what you’re experiencing listed here? Please reach out and tell me about it. Therapy has many avenues, and no list can capture every experience, struggle, or reason someone may seek support.

What therapeutic approaches do you use?

My clinical practice draws from CBT, CPT, trauma-focused approaches, MBCT, Solution-Focused Therapy, mindfulness, and grounding strategies. My perspective is also inspired by Jungian philosophy and the interconnectedness of mind, body, and soul.

What if I don't feel ready to talk about everything?

That’s okay. Therapy is collaborative, and we can work at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

Do you offer a sliding scale?

Yes. Sliding-scale fees may be available based on your circumstances. We can discuss this during your consultation when you call to book an appointment.

Do you offer any pro bono sessions?

Yes. I believe access to mental health support should not always depend on someone’s ability to pay.

I reserve a limited number of free psychotherapy sessions for individuals experiencing significant financial or social hardship, including people experiencing homelessness, women affected by domestic abuse or violence, refugees, and individuals affected by war or displacement.

Availability is limited and subject to my capacity at the time. If you believe you may qualify, please discuss your circumstances with me during a consultation.

Is psychotherapy covered by insurance?

I am a Registered Psychotherapist in Ontario and a member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA). Depending on your insurance plan, psychotherapy sessions may be eligible for reimbursement. I provide a valid receipt that you can submit to your insurance provider or workplace benefits plan.

What methods of payment do you accept?

I accept Interac e-Transfer. A valid receipt is provided for your insurance or workplace benefits claim.
